Suit Vent That is Right for You

Custom made suits allow you to choose your preferred style for each component making it unique and just right for you. But it is also important to have the proper mix and match so that it doesn’t lose its excellence. Today we will talk about a small element of Suit yet a very special one – the Vent.

A suit vent is a vertical slit on the backside of a suit or blazer. These vents make the suits look nice and allow easy movement. The opening created by vents also helps the jacket drape more perfectly over the waist and hips. There are basically three types of Vents used for suit jackets.

01. Single Vent Suit

When the suit has a single slit on the backside placed at the center extending a few inches from the bottom hem, it’s called a single vent suit. It is also called the Centre Vent Suit.

The single vent remains closed when you wear the jacket and it opens to a smaller extent mainly when you put your hands into pockets. Such a vent can be seen in casual blazers or sports suits.

02. Double Vent Suit

Double vent suits have two slits slightly sideways from the center at the backside. It opens slightly when you take a seat or put your hands in your pocket. The two vents on both sides create a wide flap at the center. This tailoring method provides a slimmer look and makes it flexible to sit and stand up. This style is good for all types of suits.

03. No Vent

As the name suggests, ‘no vent suit‘ doesn’t have any vent in its design. This type of jacket provides an elegant appearance. It doesn’t allow flexibility and thus requires to be custom tailored. However, jackets without vents are prone to bunching when you sit down or put your hands in your pockets. This cutting is best suited to tuxedos.
